In March 2005, Marat parted with fitness trainer Walt Landers and hired Don Nielson, a former world champion kickboxer as his new trainer/fitness expert.

In April 2004, Marat parted ways with coach and long time friend Denis Golovanov. Marat met with Peter Lundgren in Estoril, Portugal on April 12 and they discussed having Peter come on board as Marat's new coach. Peter started working with Marat full time in late 2004.

Peter is a former ATP player and the former coach of World No. 1 Roger Federer. He resides in Monte Carlo, but is originally from Gudmundra, Sweden. He is 38 years old.
Peter is currently working with Marat, along with fitness trainer Walt Landers.

Denis Golovanov

is currently working with Marat. Marat considers Denis a good friend, and asked him to work with him in the middle of 2002. Denis is a former ATP pro player who has agreed to work with Marat and put his own career on hold. As a Russian man, he seems to understand Marat better than some, although the fruits of this relationship have yet to be seen with Marat out injured for most of this year. However, Denis was with Marat at the end of 2002 when he broke his losing streak and won TMS Paris for the second time, as well as led Russia to it's first Davis Cup Title.

Amit Naor is Marat's former coach from 2002 and manager. Amit is not currently travelling with Marat on the tour, but they remain good friends.

Also, here is another photo of Marat's trainer Anatoly. He's on the practice court doing sit-ups while Marat practices. He sure needs them! I took these two photos in Miami in 2002. ©CKW
